City of San Antonio Bandera Corridor
How it impacts French Creek Village Neighborhood?
8.18.2022 7:15PM
Dear Neighbors,
Tonight's (8/18) meeting hosted by AFBRHA is cancelled.
We are happy to tell you that we have received word that the drafts of the Bandera Corridor project impacting our neighborhood will be removed. This is according to Phillip Manna of Alamo Farmsteads-Babcock Road Homeowner's Association. Here's the message we received tonight as subscribers to AFBRNA's alerts on this issue.
"Hello Neighbors,
I just left Councilwoman Sandoval's Office as well as a meeting with the Planning team which included Rudy Nino who is the assistant director of the planning team whose team is responsible for the Bandera Corridor Plan. During my meeting with Ms Sandoval, she indicated that the draft options for the arterial connections would be removed from the draft plan and spoke to Rudy just before my meeting with his team. Rudy confirmed that all four options would be removed from the next draft which will be completed after the last of the public input on 8/31.
They have received enough input for these proposed road additions and do not need any more. They would like more on the proposed Land Use options along Bandera. The neighborhood leaders will still be attending tonight's meeting to answer any questions for those that still arrive.
Phillip"
We will continue to keep a finger on the pulse of this project and update you all where we can.

Dear Neighbors,
We recently became aware of a proposed project that could greatly impact several neighbors in French Creek Village as well as your access to O.P. Schnabel Park.
The city recently released its plan for the Bandera Road corridor. This is not a small park road. This is a major thoroughfare. See the plan here.

You can find this on page 66 when you download the full PDF document.
It's a lot to explain. We will let you do your own research, but here's the part that concerns us:
As part of their overall efforts to alleviate traffic on Bandera Road, they are proposing an extension of Braun Road into and through O.P. Schnabel Park with the new road going directly behind the homes on Tippit Trail and Brian Clarke.
At this point, it's only a proposal, but it is rather alarming if you think about the potential repercussions to our home values and the overall quality of life and character of our unique village.
This isn't just impacting French Creek Village, there are other neighborhoods that are facing the same scenario as us … BUT some of them are facing the loss of their HOMES through EMINENT DOMAIN.
There are a total of four (4) proposals, all of them, with significant, potential negative impacts on homeowners and existing greenspace, and the wildlife that calls that space home. All in an effort to alleviate traffic from a busy road.
SO … WHAT CAN YOU DO?
