FCV STINGRAYS SWIM TEAM

Swim Team Family Volunteering

EACH FAMILY MUST SIGN UP FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 VOLUNTEER SLOTS (NOT DONATIONS) PRIOR TO REGISTRATION.

Stroke Judge: (one per meet) Watch specific lanes and determine if any swimmer uses incorrect stroke. Notify place judge if a swimmer if DQed. Inform swimmer why he/she was DQed. There are online videos that help clarify proper strokes. This league is not excessive in DQing, but does not encourage being so lenient that children do not learn proper strokes.

Starter: (one per home meet) Using a megaphone, announce the name of each event. Give the “Swimmers take you mark. Ready. Set. (beep megaphone).” Once swimmers safely exit the pool, begin the next event to keep the meet running smoothly.

Ready Bench: (one per meet) Gather swimmers in a holding area (we use a big mat) and line them up in preparation for each even. This is important when we have such a small team. Parents will be helping in some capacity and unable to ensure that their child gets to each event.

Place Judge: Stands at end of pool and helps determine who touches wall 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.

Chippers: (two parents per meet) Hold bag with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place chips and ribbons as well as participation ribbons. Stand at opposite end of pool and watch swimmers. Present swimmer with chip to represent place (determined by Place Judge). If a swimmer is DQed (disqualified) by stroke judge, present participation ribbon. After first heat of each event, present swimmer with ribbon instead of chip.

Score Table: (two parents per meet) Collect the chips from the swimmers, record the score for the first two heats and provide appropriate ribbon to each swimmer.

Concession stand crew: (2-3 home meets) We will need one person to take the lead in purchasing items for the concession stand and a team of 2-3 to sell the items. When we have more than one person, it allows them each to leave the area to watch their child swim events.

Timers: (DIVISIONALS ONLY) This league does not require timers at each meet. We will, however, need timers for divisional meets. Coach may request assistance in getting times during the meets leading up to divisional.

Below are the volunteer signup links for our 3 swim meets + divisionals.

Each family must sign up for 3 volunteer slots each season.

You can sign up the family for 3 slots during 1 meet; or 1 slot each meet; whichever works for your family.
